Residents of Qoryooley District in Lower Shabelle have decried the deteriorating health situation there as the area grapples with a surge in various illness.
The residents of the district have appealed to the government that a main hospital be built and upgraded to meet their needs.
Some of the district’s elites said that they have been following the Ministry of Health for a long time and the Federal Government but have none responded to their complaints.
“There is no news of a hospital. Every minister who visits us is taken there but he will not do anything. Women and children are dying of bleeding and various illnesses because there is no hospital in the district to deal with it,” said a Qoryooley resident.
Sayid Ali Qoryooley District Commissioner, acknowledged the poor health care in the district, and called for the long-standing grievances to be addressed to save the sick.
Sayid Ali said Qoryooley has large hospital but unfortunately has no access to equipment and medicines for patients going to the health service.
“Qoryooley is unfortunately suffering from a lack of hospital needs . On access to health services, people far from the district rely on here too. Mothers and children brought from far away villages need access to medical care,” said the Qoryooley district commissioner.
