Top Somali Military and Police Leaders Meet with ATMIS, International security partners to Tackle Emerging Security Threats

Key officials from the Somali National Army (SNA), the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), and other international security allies convened today in Mogadishu to discuss the ongoing military offensive against Al-Shabaab and other critical security reforms. This marks the sixth joint security meeting held at the SNA’s Joint Operations Coordination Headquarters, focusing on advancing the capabilities of the National Armed Forces.

The officials engaged in detailed discussions on the current military campaign against Al-Shabaab, evaluating ongoing operations and strategizing on future offensives to dismantle the terrorist group.

“The 6th joint security meeting between officials of the National Armed Forces, ATMIS, and international security partners was held today at SNA’s Joint Operations Coordination Headquarters in #Mogadishu. The meeting deliberated on key areas, including ongoing offensives against terrorists, security reforms, and advancing the National Army’s capabilities.”State Media stated in a brief post on official X account.

Additionally, the meeting underscored the importance of security reforms aimed at strengthening the SNA and enhancing its operational readiness. The officials also examined emerging security threats in Mogadishu, emphasizing the need for improved intelligence sharing and coordination among partner forces to counter these challenges effectively.

The discussions highlighted the critical role of collaboration between the SNA, ATMIS, and international partners in stabilizing Somalia. With continued support and coordinated efforts, the officials expressed optimism about achieving significant progress in the fight against Al-Shabaab and bolstering national security.
