Tensions are running high in the town of Burco following the killing of a local water agency official, identified as Maxamuud Maxamed Shiine, an employee of the Burco Water Agency.

According to local reports, the killing occurred after the official cut off the water supply to a household that had accumulated unpaid bills. A person connected to the house allegedly shot him in retaliation, as confirmed by the Burco Water Agency’s management.

“The deceased had breakfast with us this morning and mentioned his plan to disconnect water from a household that had outstanding payments,” said the agency’s director.

Security forces in Burco have arrested the main suspect and other armed individuals associated with the incident. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine whether the matter will be resolved legally or through traditional mediation.
