Speaker of Parliament rejects Farmajo’s request to oust Elwak & Gedo MPs!

The new Speaker of the House of the People paid a courtesy call on the President on April 30, 2022, when his constitutional term ended 13 months ago, but he remains in office.

Farmajo raised the issue of Elwak and Garbaharey MPs with the Speaker of the House of the People, Federal parliament Sheikh Aden Madobe and asked that both sides be thrown out and not counted over in the run-up to the presidential election, sources close to Villa told Mustaqbal.

In Somalia, Farmajo strongly encouraged consideration for lawmakers from his home region and for his proposal to allow lawmakers from both cities to be left  in Somalia’s 10th presidential election.

Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe) rejected Farmajo’s proposal to Elwak MPs, telling Farmajo that he could not violate the decision of the FIET & SIET Committees and the Interim Speaker of the House of Representatives, all of whom were sworn in. and upheld the legitimacy of the 16 MPs elected in Elwaq, and therefore had no power to intervene or change previous decisions.

The outgoing president, who has been challenging the parliamentary and presidential elections for some time, is now trying to disrupt the presidential election with the Garbaharerey MPs.

Sources close to the presidency told Mustaqbal that if the 16 MPs in Gedo had been left behind, Farmajo would have been prepared to argue that it would not be possible to elect a president and that they would have been selected outside Garbaharey. prepared to argue that the constituency of the electoral agreement had been disputed.
