Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro has indicated that the administration has not ruled out granting an Israeli company access to develop or operate a port, highlighting the territory’s strategic position and economic potential.
Speaking in an interview with an Israeli newspaper on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai, President Irro encouraged investment across key sectors including energy, agriculture, tourism, and finance.
He emphasized Somaliland’s geographic advantage along major maritime routes and underscored its natural resources as opportunities for foreign partners seeking long-term economic cooperation.
The remarks come as development continues around the UAE-backed military and logistics hub in Berbera, a project that has increasingly drawn regional attention and competition within the Red Sea corridor.
Somaliland is making efforts to expand economic partnerships despite its lack of international recognition as an independent state.
