The newly elected President of Somaliland Region Abdirahman Mohammed Abdullahi (Cirro), has taken his first official step by meeting with various senior officials of the administration’s armed forces.
President Cirro held an introductory meeting with the Commander of the Somaliland Military, Nuh Ismail Taani, and other senior military officials. The discussion focused on security matters concerning the region.
Commander Nuh and the attending officers welcomed the new president with a formal salute and briefed him on the current security situation of the region.
Additionally, President Cirro held another meeting with the Commander of the Fire Brigade, Ahmed Mohamed Hassan (Sawaaxili), and a delegation of senior officers accompanying him. Commander Sawaaxili congratulated the newly elected leader and offered prayers for his success in fulfilling the heavy responsibilities entrusted to him.
These meetings mark the beginning of Cirro’s efforts following his victory in the recent Somaliland region elections, where he defeated the outgoing president, Muse Bihi.
The new president is expected to officially take office soon. In a speech following his electoral victory, he emphasized that there would be no celebratory events out of respect for the mourning period of the late former president of Somaliland, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud (Siilaanyo).
