Somalia’s Speaker of the Upper House Reflects on 2023 Achievements

As Somalia bids farewell to 2023, Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, the Speaker of the Upper House in the 11th Parliament of the Federal Republic, reflects on the nation’s notable achievements during the past year.

Abdullahi highlighted significant milestones in politics, security, and economics, acknowledging that Somalia has attained key accomplishments after prolonged efforts. The year witnessed the culmination of efforts in areas crucial to the nation’s development.

He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility to uphold and solidify these achievements, pointing out the relief of national debt, the lifting of the arms embargo, and Somalia’s newfound membership in the East African Community.

“As we bid goodbye to 2023, we will remember three victories we achieved in the fields of Economy, Security, and Politics. Once the arms embargo in our country is lifted, our army will receive tanks and planes to liberate the country from AS fighters,” stated Abdi Hashi Abdullahi.

In December 2023, Somalia celebrated key successes, including joining the East African Community, the removal of the arms embargo, and the relief of national debt, marking a positive turn in the nation’s trajectory.
