Somalia’s Finance Minister Promotes Investment at London Conference

Mr. Bihi Iman Cige, the Minister of Finance for the Federal Government of Somalia, took center stage at the Somalia Investment Conference in London, England. Addressing UK businessmen and investors, Minister Cige conveyed Somalia’s readiness to welcome international investments, particularly in the sectors of Agriculture and Fisheries.

In his opening remarks, Cige highlighted the progress achieved by the Federal Government of Somalia in implementing financial reforms and fostering economic development within the country. Emphasizing the significance of the moment, he underlined that the ongoing Somalia Debt Forgiveness process, nearing its completion, presents a crucial opportunity for UK investors to engage with Somalia.

“This is an important and valuable opportunity for UK businessmen and investors to invest in Somalia,” remarked Minister Bihi Iman Cige. He encouraged the international business community to explore the potential that Somalia offers, expressing optimism about the country’s trajectory for economic growth and stability.

Cige’s participation in the Somalia Investment Conference is part of the broader delegation accompanying the President of Somalia in London, who is actively engaged in the World Food Conference. Alongside the conference activities, Minister Cige seized the opportunity to hold specialized meetings with his UK counterpart and representatives from various financial institutions, fostering collaboration and dialogue for mutual economic benefits.
