International Community Urges Peaceful Resolution Amidst Growing Tensions in Puntland

In the midst of escalating conflict between President Deni and the opposition in Puntland, the international community has issued a stern call for an end to hostilities and a peaceful resolution to the political discord. A press release from international representatives highlighted concerns about the presence of the army in the city, citing its unsettling impact on the local population, leading to school closures and displacement.

The statement emphasized the unwavering stance against violence and threats of force, stressing that grievances should be addressed amicably through dialogue. “There is no justification for violence or threats of force. We call on all parties to resolve their differences peacefully,” declared the international community in their official communication.

Expressing deep concern over the situation, international friends affirmed their close monitoring of developments and urgently called for a de-escalation of the crisis. The international community underscored the immediate need for talks between the conflicting political parties to pave the way for a peaceful resolution.

In response to the unfolding crisis, representatives of the international community had planned a visit to Garowe to engage in discussions with both the opposition and President Deni. However, heightened tensions on the ground forced a cancellation of their trip to Puntland, highlighting the severity of the situation.
