Somalia’s Deputy Foreign Minister denies reports of Israel visit

Somalia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Balcad, has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that he recently traveled to Israel.

In a statement posted on his official X account, Balcad described the reports as false and baseless, rejecting allegations that he had undertaken a secret visit to the country.

The deputy minister said there was no reason for him to travel to Israel, noting that Somalia and Israel do not maintain diplomatic relations. He stressed that the claims being shared online were entirely untrue.

The reports had generated discussion across social media platforms, prompting the minister to publicly address and deny the allegations.

Somalia has long maintained its position of not having diplomatic relations with Israel and continues to support the Palestinian cause in international forums.

Further details regarding the origin of the reports remain unclear.
