The Office of the Auditor General of Somalia (OAGS) has formally joined the INTOSAI Working Group on the Fight Against Corruption and Money Laundering (WGFACML), strengthening the country’s engagement with international audit institutions on financial crime and public-sector accountability.
The admission took place during the Working Group’s 19th Annual Meeting in Arusha, Tanzania, held from August 18 to 20, 2026. Somalia’s Office of the Auditor General was represented by its Compliance Audit Director, who formally joined the group on behalf of the Supreme Audit Institution of Somalia.
The Director said the “membership would provide Somalia with an opportunity to work more closely with peer Supreme Audit Institutions, exchange knowledge and share good practices in tackling corruption and money laundering risks” .
The working group discussed a range of issues, including beneficial ownership, public procurement, anti-corruption risk management, fraud and money laundering.
OAGS said membership would also allow Somalia to share its own experiences while strengthening its audit approaches to corruption and financial crime.
The Office said it would actively contribute to the Working Group’s objectives and reaffirmed its commitment to international cooperation, transparency, accountability and stronger oversight of public resources.
