The Federal Government of Somalia has expressed its support and gratitude for the United Nations Security Council’s recent decision to transition the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) into a newly established, temporary mission known as the United Nations Transitional Mission in Somalia (UNTMS).
This transition, initiated by Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and set to begin on November 1, represents a significant step toward enhanced sovereignty, governance, and self-reliance for the East African nation.
Under this decision, the two-year mission is expected to focus on reinforcing Somalia’s ongoing efforts to build resilient governance structures and ensure long-term security and stability.
