Somalia, Türkiye pledge stronger Defence Cooperation.

Somalia’s Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi met on Monday with Turkish Ambassador Alper Aktaş “to discuss closer cooperation in defence and military training”, according to brief statement by Somalia’s Defence Ministry.

The two officials reviewed Türkiye’s continued support to Somalia in building the capacity of the Somali Armed Forces and advancing security sector reforms.

Minister Fiqi praised Türkiye’s role as a strategic partner, noting its contribution to training Somali troops and strengthening defence institutions.

Ambassador Aktaş reiterated Türkiye’s long-standing solidarity with Somalia, confirming Ankara’s readiness to expand its defence cooperation programs.

He pointed to ongoing military training initiatives and infrastructure development as evidence of Türkiye’s enduring commitment to Somalia’s stability.
