Somali President meets Qatari Emir and Turkey President in Doha.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met on Monday with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, where he emphasized Somalia’s support for Qatar and condemned “any infringement on Qatar’s sovereignty and security.”

According to a statement from Villa Somalia, Emir Tamim “appreciated Somalia’s friendship and highlighted the importance of strong bilateral relations.”

On the sidelines of the Arab-Islamic Summit, President Mohamud also held talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The two leaders discussed regional security, global challenges, and avenues for strengthening Somalia–Türkiye cooperation.

The series of high-level meetings in Doha highlighted Somalia’s growing diplomatic engagement in the Gulf and beyond, with President Hassan using the platform to strengthen alliances and push for collective responses to regional crises. Somali officials noted that these engagements would bolster both political and economic cooperation with key partners.
