Somalia and Türkiye have pledged to strengthen cooperation in transport and infrastructure development following high-level discussions between Somali Minister of Public Works Ayub Ismail Yusuf and Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu in Ankara.
The talks focused on “expanding bilateral cooperation through joint infrastructure initiatives aimed at supporting sustainable development and economic growth in Somalia” .
Officials from both sides discussed potential projects involving transport networks and infrastructure investments, while emphasizing the importance of greater private sector participation in future development efforts.
According to statements following the meeting, the discussions also explored ways “to enhance collaboration on long-term development programs intended to improve connectivity and support national infrastructure priorities” .
Turkish officials reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to maintaining what they described as strong fraternal relations with Somalia and expressed support for continued partnership across key sectors.
The latest discussions reflect growing cooperation between Somalia and Türkiye, which have strengthened ties in recent years through partnerships in infrastructure, security, education, and development initiatives.
