The Federal Government of Somalia has expressed its appreciation to countries that have issued messages of support reaffirming Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
In a statement released by the Federal Republic of Somalia, the government said that more than seventy countries have expressed clear and unequivocal support for Somalia, with their positions reaching as far as the United Nations Security Council. The statement described the backing as a strong demonstration of international solidarity at a critical moment for the country.
Among the countries highlighted for their visible political and diplomatic support were Pakistan, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom, which Somalia said have played an important role in advocating for the country’s unity on international platforms.
The statement also noted that a broad range of international and regional organizations have aligned themselves with Somalia’s position. These include the United Nations, the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the Arab League, and the European Union, all of which reaffirmed their support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
However, the government pointed out that some neighboring countries, notably Ethiopia and Kenya, were absent from the list of states that issued public statements of support. This omission, the statement said, has raised questions about their stance on safeguarding Somalia’s territorial unity, particularly at a sensitive time for the country.
The Federal Government reiterated its firm commitment to defending Somalia’s independence, unity, and territorial integrity. It also thanked all international partners that have demonstrated solidarity and called on the global community to further strengthen its support for Somalia’s stability, sovereignty, and long-term peace.
