Somalia’s South West security agencies have carried out a planned intensified operations against Al-Shabab fighters in the Jama’a area near the BurHakaba district in the Bay region.
The forces have successfully demolished, destroyed camps and roadblocks that were established by Al-Shabab fighters in the area for extorting money and harassing the residents in the area according to the commander Sandhere who led the operations.
Sandhere indicated such targeted operations will be continuous as similar targeted operations cleared AS fighters from their bases.
Heavy operations against the Al-Shabaab group are still ongoing in the regions of the country, with the cooperation of the government and organised local forces known as Macawisley forces targeting the areas the group still controls and have bases.
The rare collaboration between the federal government forces, international security partners and local forces known as macawisley has helped produce the most significant territorial gains against Al-Shabab fighters with several key areas liberated from the group.
Somalia’s top leaders have joined hands to intensify the operations and support the Government forces in the operations. The leaders praised the soldiers and local fighters who dislodged the group from vast areas since the offensive was launched. The president has promised the operations will not stop until final victory is achieved.
