The battle between the forces of the 60th Somali National Army and the South West Administration and Al-Shabaab took place today in Deynunay area, 25 km east of Baidoa in the Bay region.
The battle came after members of the AS group attacked the military base in Deynunay area, and there was a battle that lasted for many hours, which resulted both death and injuries.
Officials of the country’s armed forces said that they foiled the attack from the AS group and caused them losses in the battle , but AS group on their part said that they have taken over Deynunay area in the Bay region.
Eyewitnesses told the media that sporadic gunshots are still being heard in Deynunay area, and emergency forces have arrived from the direction of Baidoa to protect and flush out AS group from that area.
Several times, Al-Shabaab attacked and took over the Deynunay area, which is one of the protected areas in Baidoa city, which is operated by the South West Administration, while there are a large number of Somali government troops and those of the South West Administration.
