Somalia is moving to strengthen its maritime and trade infrastructure as the Director of the Port of Mogadishu, Amb. Americo,the Director General of Mogadishu Ports Authority, led a high-level delegation to Abu Dhabi for talks with senior officials of Abu Dhabi Ports Group.
According to a statement, the Somali delegation held discussions with Mohamed Eidha Almemhali, the Abu Dhabi Ports Group executive responsible for Africa, focusing on “modernising the Port of Mogadishu, improving operational efficiency, and exploring new trade and investment opportunities” .
The talks are part of broader efforts to position the Port of Mogadishu as a competitive hub for regional and global commerce, leveraging its strategic location along key maritime routes. Officials said enhanced port capacity and efficiency would support Somalia’s economic recovery, facilitate trade flows, and attract foreign investment.
The engagement underscores Somalia’s growing outreach to international partners as it seeks to rebuild critical infrastructure and integrate more deeply into global trade networks.
