Somalia diplomatic relations with UAE appears to be back since it’s diplomatic dispute sorrounding the gulf on the reign of Hassan Kheyre as a prime minister and President Farmajo
The Somali government says it will surrender nearly $ 10 million ($ 9.6 million) to the UAE, which was seized by authorities instructed by Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo’s from the UAE’s Royal Jet from Aden Adde International Airport on 8th April 2018 which was basis of key diplomatic dispute between the two countries.
Prime Minister Roble also announced the resumption of relations between the two countries, which had deteriorated after Somalia’s foreign policy fell to the government of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari monarch, who was taking advantage of private interests between former Somali president Mohamed Farmajo and his his ally Fahad Yassin Dahir, former commander of the Somali National Security Agency.
“I want to make it clear that the ambiguity between the two countries and the Government of the United Arab Emirates since the April 2018 incident,” Roble said. I want to express our sorrow and apologize for what happened.
I want to make it clear to our brotherly government of the United Arab Emirates that we have their money seized at that time and they can take it when they are ready, and we welcome it and apologize for what happened so let’s start a new page for the government and the people.”
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has called for talks between the two countries to resolve the crisis. After Hassan Khayre took a neutral stance on the Gulf crisis, it was no longer under the control of the country’s intelligence.
Prime Minister Roble received UAE aid for the drought in Somalia.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble and Hon Khadija Mohamed Diriye, the Minister of Aid, have received 55 tons of drought relief assistance from the United Arab Emirates, with the UAE Ambassador to Somalia, HE Mohamed Ahmed Alcuthman, contributing to the relief effort and relations between the two countries.
Prime Minister Roble met with the UAE Ambassador to Somalia, HE Mohamed Ahmed Alcuthman, on 7 December 2021, during which they discussed strengthening and developing relations between the two countries and how the UAE could contribute to the relief efforts for the Somali people affected by the drought.

The two countries have long had a stable political relationship that has enabled Somali businessmen and companies to trade heavily in the UAE while the crisis in Somalia has led to Somali businesses being registered in the UAE due to the collapse that happened in the country in 1991 following the war .
