Somalia: Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre Strengthens Somali Cabinet with Key Appointments in Planning and Education Ministries

The Prime Minister of the federal government of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre has yesterday announced two significant appointments to bolster the Somali government’s focus on economic development and education.

In a statement on Monday, Hon. AhmedNur Sheikh Mohamed famous for Loxos, was named the new State Minister for Planning, Investment, and Economic Development. This appointment is expected to support Somalia’s ongoing economic transformation and development goals.

Hon. Loxos is expected to bring a wealth of experience to the Ministry of Planning, tasked with driving investment, planning major developmental projects, and enhancing economic policy initiatives. His role is expected to be instrumental in guiding Somalia’s efforts to attract foreign investment and implement sustainable development strategies.

In addition, Prime Minister Barre appointed Hon. Abdirashid Mohamed Duale as the Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education. With the government of president Mohamud prioritizing improvements in its education system, Duale’s expertise is anticipated to help streamline educational reforms and enhance cultural and higher education sectors.

Barre said the new appointments reflect the government’s plan to addresses key areas crucial for Somalia’s development, including economic planning and education reform.

The government top leaders indicated that the appointments underscore the government’s commitment to long-term economic stability and the development of human capital, which are vital for Somalia’s future.
