The Prime Minister of the federal government of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre has today, Sunday laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction and renovation of Mogadishu Stadium Sports Village, a multi-sport complex that includes basketball, swimming, handball, and football stadium facilities.
Barre said football play a critical role in the country as he commended Somali Football Federation for embracing a huge task in developing the country’s football indicating football’s role in peace building and public integration in the country.
He highlighted the vital role of the Mogadishu Stadium Sports Village, that includes basketball, swimming, handball, and football stadium facilities as a backbone for fostering peace, harmony, and unity among our people, diverting the community especially the youth from engaging insecurity and other bad vices.
The Prime Minister said that Sports sector in Somalia has tremendously improved as the recent tournaments organised by the ministry of sports of the federal government of Somalia become a beacon of hope and peace for many people in the country.
With the attendance of thousands of spectators in stadiums the government’s indicated it’s main aim was to nurture talents , create jobs and serene harmony to the Somali community that have been affected by decades of conflicts.
