Somalia’s Elite Danab commando forces are conducting security operations against Al-Shabaab in Lower Shabelle region of Southwest State, according to security sources.
The operations are reportedly being carried out based on security intelligence gathered by the forces, targeting areas believed to have a presence of Al-Shabaab members.
Danab forces have conducted operations in several locations, including El Bashir, Farsooley, Dudumaay, and other areas across Lower Shabelle.
Security sources said the forces have detained several individuals suspected of having links to Al-Shabaab indicating that they will face the full force of the law.
The suspects are currently undergoing serious investigations to determine whether they have any connection to the militant group.
The Federal Government of Somalia has continued to intensify military operations against Al-Shabaab, with Lower Shabelle remaining one of the areas where Danab forces are conducting frequent security operations.
