Somalia’s Ministry of Commerce has launched the Second National Quality Infrastructure Forum in Mogadishu, a two-day event aimed at strengthening exports and improving import standards.
Opened by Commerce Minister Mahmud Ahmed Aden, the forum brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and international partners to enhance trade competitiveness and ensure safe, high-quality goods enter and leave the Somali market.
Officials said the initiative is key to boosting Somalia’s participation in regional and global trade.
Stakeholders at the forum, including private sector representatives, development partners, and regulatory bodies, discussed the importance of building strong certification systems to safeguard Somali goods. They highlighted that improving quality standards could open new regional and international markets for Somali exports
