The Minister of Internal Security of the federal government of Somalia Abdulahi Sheik Ismael Fara-Tag held a meeting with the UN Acting Special Representative James Swan.
The meeting underscored the importance of continued UN collaboration in strengthening Somalia’s security apparatus and enhance security through joint Police Programme. Minister Senfartaag and UN acting Special Representative explored ways the UN can further assist in building the capacity of Somali security forces to ensure sustained peace and stability in the region.
Minister Senfartaag expressed gratitude for the UN support and highlighted the critical role it has played in Somalia’s security framework. James Swan in his side reiterated the UN’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s security initiatives and ensuring stable Somalia.
It’s worth noting that the United Nations in Somalia recently congratulated the Somali government and people on their country’s election to a seat on the UN Security Council for two years.
“Somalia has come a long way over the past three decades on its path to peace, prosperity, and security. Election to a seat on the Security Council is recognition of that commendable progress,” said the UN Secretary-General’s Acting Special Representative for Somalia, James Swan
