Somalia: Heavy Clashes and Airstrikes Target AS Bases in Ceelbaraf

Reports from the Middle Shabelle region indicate that intense battles and airstrikes against the Al-Shabaab militant group took place last night in the Ceelbaraf area.

Local sources confirm that multiple clashes erupted in the area, involving government forces, organised local forces and Al-Shabaab fighters.

The fighting was reportedly accompanied by aerial bombardments targeting militant key positions in nearby locations, including Cali Fooldheere. The airstrikes specifically aimed at neutralizing Al-Shabaab operatives in the region.

The exact casualties resulting from these operations remain unclear, but the objective was to cripple Al-Shabaab’s presence in Ceelbaraf, where the group had been reinforcing its positions in recent days.

Meanwhile, similar military operations are reportedly underway in areas along the border between Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle, a key passage for Al-Shabaab fighters.

The militant group has recently intensified its attacks in Middle Shabelle, launching assaults on towns and villages in the region, leading to significant casualties.

The situation remains tense, with ongoing military movements and heightened security operations in both Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle as government forces and local fighters continue efforts to counter Al-Shabaab’s activities.
