The Federal Republic of Somalia has issued a strong statement of solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic following recent Israeli airstrikes, affirming its support for Syria’s sovereignty and stability.
In a message released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFA Somalia), the government of Somalia condemned the escalating attacks and expressed deep concern over the continued violation of Syrian territorial integrity.
“Somalia stands with Syria in safeguarding its sovereignty, reinforcing the rule of law, and maintaining civil harmony during these challenging times,” the statement read. It added that Somalia remains committed to principles of international law, including the respect for national borders and non-interference in the internal affairs of states.
The statement also reiterated Somalia’s support for Syria’s efforts to restore peace and achieve long-term stability in the region.
The expression of solidarity comes at a time of heightened regional tensions and reflects Somalia’s broader foreign policy stance, which emphasizes the importance of sovereignty, peaceful coexistence, and multilateral diplomacy.
The Ministry concluded by calling on the international community to uphold the rule of law and protect civilians affected by the conflict.
