The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, recently visited the Özdemir Bayraktar Technology Center, a facility specializing in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that play a crucial role in combatting Al-Shabaab (AS).
Accompanied by the Minister of Ports and Marine Transport, President Hassan Sheikh listened to presentations from the center’s leaders and engineers. They discussed advanced technology, particularly focusing on drones and defense equipment.
During the visit, President Hassan praised Turkey’s advancements in its defense industry. He emphasized that Somalia stands to benefit from these experiences in defense capabilities and technology, which could enhance efforts against AS.
The Özdemir Bayraktar Center is reportedly among the leading facilities for producing modern technological equipment, including UAVs. These drones are integral to aerial bombardments and operations against AS.
Turkey’s commitment to supplying these advanced unmanned aerial vehicles is said to underscores its strategic alliance with Somalia, aiming to bolster the nation’s defense and combat capabilities.
