Somali refugees from Yemen arrive at the port of Bossaso.

The Ministry of Interior of Puntland State of Somalia has welcomed 19 Yemeni and Somali refugee families fleeing the conflict in Yemen at the port of Bossaso.

The refugees, mostly women and children, were transported to a refugee reception center in Bossaso, according to a statement from the ministry.
They arrived on Sunday afternoon.

“The humanitarian situation and the dire security situation in Yemen have led to an influx of refugees into Puntland,” said a statement from the Puntland Ministry of Interior

Yemen hosts the world’s second largest Somali refugee population, around 250,000 refugees.

It is a long-standing refugee host nation and the only country in the Arabian Peninsula which is signatory to the Refugee Convention and its protocol.
