The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia expressed heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives, and the Somali people on the passing of Commander Abdi Sulnug. Leading the 18th battalion of the Somali National Army’s elite Gorgor forces, Sulnug succumbed to injuries sustained during heavy clashes with Al-Shabaab militants near Caad village in Galmudug State on Saturday .
Describing Sulnug as a great man who served the Somali nation, the Prime Minister highlighted his crucial role in eradicating Alshabab groups and his sacrifice while protecting the people and country. The Prime Minister conveyed deep sorrow for Sulnug’s painful death, acknowledging his efforts “to bring peace to Somalia and eliminate Al-Shabaab with loyalty and bravery.”
The Minister of Defense, Abdikadir Mohamed Nur Jama, also extended condolences to Sulnug’s family and the Somali people. The Ministry mourned the loss of Major Abdi Mohamed Sulnuuge, emphasizing his martyrdom in Mudug.
The intense clashes in the Caad area, Mudug region, underscore the ongoing security operations in Somalia as government forces continue their battle against the Al-Shabaab militant group.
