The President of the federal government of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin, where they reached several agreements to strengthen cooperation between their two respective countries.
The discussions between the two leaders focused on key areas of collaboration, including climate initiatives, economic development, and security support for Somalia as it prepares to assume full responsibility for its own security following the end of the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).

The two leaders also discussed significant issues related to state-building efforts in Somalia, underscoring Germany’s support in these initiatives.
The meeting also addressed the status of Somali refugees residing in Germany, particularly those who have not received legal residency.
The Somali government has announced that it would facilitate the voluntary return of these individuals, with both nations cooperating to ensure a smooth transition for those wishing to go back to Somalia.
