Somali National Army displays captured militants and weapons following successful operation in Ceeldheer

In a significant targeted military operation, the Somali National Army showcased seized weapons and militants in Ceeldheer, Galgaduud region, following a fierce battle against Al-Shabaab last Friday.

During the afternoon of the operation, two captured militants were presented to the media, visibly restrained and under serious military supervision. Army officials assured that the detainees would be treated humanely until they are transferred to the Military Court for prosecution.

The event was attended by key military leaders, including Colonel Mohamed Dhagaweyne, the commander of the 21st Division, and Saahid Jama Farah Jareere, the commander of the 1st Gorgor Commando Brigade, among other top officials. Their presence underscored the importance of the operation in the fight against insurgency.

Additionally, military officials awarded a cash prize to a gallant soldier who reportedly thwarted an attempted vehicle-borne explosive attack by the militants, which aimed to seize control of Ceeldheer. This recognition highlights the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the area.

The recent Al-Shabaab attack on Ceeldheer is reported to be the most significant assault since the town was liberated in 2022, marking a critical moment in the ongoing struggle against the militant group.
