The Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with Jubbaland Dervish forces, launched a successful clearing operation in the Gole-shinbi area of Lower Jubba, targeting Al-Shabaab militants who have long been causing disruptions and hardships to local communities.
According to military officers and officials from the Jubbaland administration, the operation aimed at dismantling Al-Shabaab’s presence in the area. The militants had been harassing residents, with reports indicating that they were extorting livestock and other resources from the people.
During the operation, the Somali National Army and the Jubbaland Dervishes managed to disperse Al-Shabaab fighters, successfully clearing the Gole-shinbi area of the group’s influence. Additionally, officials confirmed that an Al-Shabaab officer responsible for collecting livestock from locals was apprehended during the operation.
Speaking about the success of the mission, military commanders emphasized the importance of such operations in maintaining security and stability in the region, especially as Al-Shabaab continues to pose a significant threat to local populations and regional peace. “We have been working tirelessly to eliminate the threat posed by Al-Shabaab, and today’s operation is part of a broader effort to ensure the safety of the people,” one commander noted.
The operation is part of an ongoing campaign by the Somali Armed Forces and Jubbaland authorities to disrupt Al-Shabaab’s operations in Lower Jubba, a region that has seen frequent clashes between the militant group and government forces. These operations have been crucial in securing key areas and restoring normalcy for the residents affected by Al-Shabaab’s activities.
However, challenges remain, as Al-Shabaab continues to employ guerrilla tactics and exert influence in remote areas.
The Somali Armed Forces, alongside regional forces like the Jubbaland Dervishes, have reiterated their commitment to uprooting Al-Shabaab from all corners of the country, with a focus on protecting civilians and restoring governance in liberated regions.
