Somali Government denies Airstrike on Former Custodial Corps commander’s Home.

The Federal Government of Somalia has denied reports that an airstrike targeted the home of former Somali Custodial Corps commander General Mahad Abdirahman Aden, who was injured in an explosion at the residence in Doolow district, Gedo region.

In a statement, the federal government said the incident was caused by explosions involving materials that were allegedly being prepared at the location. The government said a security investigation into the incident had ruled out an airstrike as the cause.

The explosion caused extensive damage to the house where General Mahad was staying in Doolow. The former commander sustained injuries and is receiving medical treatment at a health facility in the district.

The government did not provide further details about the materials involved or explain what they were allegedly being prepared for.

The denial comes amid reports of heightened security concerns in parts of Gedo, a strategically important region near Somalia’s borders with Kenya and Ethiopia.

Authorities have not indicated whether arrests have been made in connection with the explosion or whether further investigations are underway.
