SoDMA delivers food aid to recently liberated areas in Lower Shabelle.

The Somali Disaster Management Agency (@SoDMA_Somalia) has distributed emergency food assistance to communities in several recently liberated areas of the Lower Shabelle region, including Sabiid, Canole, and Bariire.

According to the agency, “five trucks carrying essential food supplies were dispatched to support families affected by years of insecurity and disruption under Alshabaab control”.

The delivery is part of ongoing government-led humanitarian efforts to stabilize liberated areas and restore basic services for returning residents.

SoDMA officials said the aid aims to alleviate immediate food shortages while complementing long-term recovery and rehabilitation programs in the region.

“This operation is a continuation of our commitment to assist families recovering from the impact of terrorism. We are working closely with local authorities to ensure the aid reaches those most in need,” the agency said.

The recent liberation of Sabiid, Canole, and Bariire has paved the way for renewed humanitarian access and the gradual resumption of farming, trade, and education in the region. The government has pledged to continue supporting stabilization and reconstruction efforts to strengthen resilience in the newly secured areas.
