Two people, including a senior police officer, were killed on Friday morning after their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Saretho–Dadaab Main Supply Route.
The blast occurred at around 6am when a police Toyota Land Cruiser attached to Hagadera Police Station detonated the explosive.
Security officials confirmed that the officer, who was based at Hagadera Police Station, and the vehicle’s driver died at the scene.
Details of the damage to the vehicle and whether other people were on board were not immediately available.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with further details expected from authorities as they establish the circumstances surrounding the blast
