Jubaland takes control of Beled Hawo as Janan hands over troops and departs to Nairobi

Abdirashid Hassan Abdinur, alias Abdirashid janan, has fully handed over the forces under his command from Beled Hawo after reportedly prolonged negotiations with senior officials representing the Jubbaland administration.

Janan reportedly departed from Mandera early today using a military aircraft operated by Kenya. The move reportedly came after he completed the planned transfer of the troops who had been stationed there, with his next destination being Nairobi.

Security officials from Jubaland primarily drawn from the intelligence forces reportedly arrived at the troops’ locations to take charge of command.

The handover is understood to have been carried out by units that had already been registered with the Federal Government during the time Janan served as head of NISA (National Intelligence and Security Agency) in the Gedo region.

This development comes after about a year and several months, during which Jubaland gradually consolidated control over Beled Hawo in the Gedo region.

The transfer of the troops reportedly occurred without an armed confrontation, as the tense situation that had previously threatened conflict was resolved through negotiations.

The handover marks Jubaland’s full takeover of Beled Hawo, a strategic town in Gedo region, more than a year after tensions over its control began. The transition reportedly completed without tensions following efforts to resolve the dispute through dialogue.

It is also reported that Janan is expected to meet in Nairobi with officials from Jubaland to finalize the agreement both sides initially reached, according to the current reports available.
