Puntland authorities have reportedly launched a manhunt for those responsible for the killing of businessman Ahmed Yusuf Haamey, who was shot dead in Galkacyo last night.
In a preliminary statement, Puntland officials said security agencies were actively pursuing the suspects and vowed to arrest them wherever they are found and bring them before a court of law to face the justice system.
“Security agencies are actively pursuing those responsible for the killing. Wherever they are found, they will be arrested and brought before a court of law to face justice,” Puntland officials said in a statement.
Security officials also urged residents to remain calm and refrain from taking retaliatory actions, including targeting people believed to belong to communities associated with the suspected perpetrators.
Puntland authorities further warned the relatives and clan members of the deceased against taking the law into their own hands or engaging in any criminal acts.
The killing of Ahmed Yusuf Haamey is reportedly linked to a clan-related dispute. People who knew him described him as a good and peace-loving man who supported vulnerable and disadvantaged members of the community.
