Puntland Resolves Political Dispute through Agreement

In a crucial meeting, President Said Abdullahi Deni , Vice President Ahmed Elmi Osman Karaash, and Speaker of Parliament Abdirashiid Yuusuf Jibriil Cawl came together to address the ongoing political dispute surrounding the Puntland election process.

The resolution, mediated significantly by former President and Senator Abdirahman Mohamed Farole, solidified key agreements.

The President’s Committee for Approval and Dispute Resolution within the Parliament will remain unchanged, as appointed. Additionally, it was decided that the upcoming 6th Parliament will adhere to the precedent set by the 5th Parliament, concluding its term on December 31, 2023.

This consensus marks a pivotal step in managing the internal disagreements, with leaders urging the Committee for Resolving Disputes and Approving Members of the Council of Representatives to execute their responsibilities diligently and impartially.

Notably, candidates opposing the committee held discussions with its members, ultimately reaching an agreement to ensure the committee operates transparently and in accordance with electoral laws.
