The President of Puntland State, Said Abdullahi Deni, paid a visit on Wednesday to soldiers recovering from injuries sustained during a fierce clash with ISIS militants near Dharjale on Tuesday . The soldiers, lauded as heroes, successfully repelled the attempted attack by the terrorist group, showcasing extraordinary bravery and commitment.
President Deni met with the wounded troops at a medical facility, offering words of encouragement and gratitude for their sacrifices. “Your courage in the face of adversity is a testament to the unwavering spirit of Puntland’s security forces. You have defended our people and our land with honor,” he said.
The clash near Dharjale, in Puntland’s Bari region, highlighted the ongoing operations under the state’s anti-terrorism campaign, “Hillaac.” This campaign, launched recently, aims to eradicate ISIS and Al-Shabaab from Puntland’s mountainous regions, which have served as hideouts for these groups.
Reports indicate that Puntland’s forces, supported by advanced training and strategic planning, successfully neutralized several militants during the confrontation. The Puntland government has intensified its counter-terrorism efforts, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between security forces and local communities.
