Puntland President Deni Announces Candidacy, Criticizes Federal Government and Addresses SSC Khatumo

Addressing a large gathering in an event held in Garowe last night, Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni officially declared his candidacy for the presidency, addressing various issues during his speech. “Supporting the self-determination of the people of Khatumo is one of my political programs if I return to power. Puntland has invested significantly in the liberation of the Sool region, now governed by SSC Khatumo. I respect the decision and fate of the people in those areas,” affirmed President Deni.

Deni further asserted that Puntland has faced severe sanctions from the federal government, claiming that international aid destined for Puntland is still held in Mogadishu. He conveyed a message to the people, stating, “People tell me that you have not taken funds from the federal government and do as they want. Do I buy some coin about your fate.”

The Puntland President also directed verbal criticism at some of the candidates competing for the Puntland presidency. He highlighted contradictions in their stance on the electoral process, especially regarding the election format and the recent decision by SSC, labeling their statements as contradictory and discrediting.
