Puntland Forces seize boat loaded with explosives, apprehend suspects

Security forces from the Puntland Maritime Police Force have successfully conducted an operation in the coastal district of Eyl, seizing a boat reportedly transporting materials intended for explosives, along with seven individuals traveling with it.

According to close confidant reports, five of the detained individuals are Somali nationals, while two others are from Yemen. Authorities are currently conducting further investigations to gather additional information regarding the explosives confiscated during the operation.

The Puntland Federal Member State stated that the seized materials are intended to be used in explosive vests, which can cause significant damage when detonated as planned. This revelation highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by the region.

Puntland Federal Member State indicated that it has been actively engaged in combatting terrorist groups, particularly ISIS. In response to these threats, security forces have intensified their monitoring of movements on both land and sea to prevent potential attacks by such groups.

This operation is said to underscores Puntland’s commitment to enhancing security and maintaining stability in the region, as they work to eliminate threats posed by extremist organizations.
