In a major blow to ISIS in Somalia, Puntland security forces confirmed the death of Ahmed Muse Said, a senior operative and critical figure in the group’s regional network, during a sophisticated operation in the Cal Miskaad mountains near Guryasamo, east of Dhaadaar. The operation, “which combined ground troops and air support, targeted Said, who served as a vital link between ISIS’s leadership and foreign fighters while maintaining close ties with the group’s top leaders, Sheikh Abdulkadir Mumin and Abdirahman Fahiye.” officials said.
Puntland officials described Said’s elimination as a significant setback for the militants’ operational and leadership structure. The raid resulted in the recovery of valuable intelligence, including documents and electronic devices, which are expected to aid further counterterrorism efforts. The bodies of Said and another militant were displayed as evidence of the operation’s success.
