Prime Minister Hamza: We will not agree to an election that will see the destruction of Puntland.

The Prime Minister of the Somali government, Hamza Abdi Barre, has accused the President of Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni, of being responsible for the obstacles facing Somalia’s debt relief program.

The Prime Minister who spoke strongly about Puntland issues, said that he will never agree to fail the long process and struggle made towards achievement of debt forgiveness.

Hamza said that the president of Puntland will be responsible for any failure in debt forgiveness, calling on President Deni not to orchestrate political crisis.

Prime Minister Hamse, who spoke about the Puntland elections, declared that the federal government will never agree to an election that will lead to destruction in Puntland.

“It is better for people to go for free elections. But what if what’s ongoing will leads to the destruction of Puntland?It should be done in a way that is concensus and something that is agreed upon, otherwise no,” said Prime Minister Hamza.

The Prime Minister added that they will not negotiate to avoid starting of a war in Puntland and violate its security and existence. He called for the traditional elders to be involved in political decisions.
