President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Government of Somalia is in London to attend a global leaders’ summit addressing food shortages and disasters. During his visit, the President is scheduled to engage in crucial discussions with UK leaders, including the Prime Minister, focusing on pivotal matters for Somalia’s Federal Government.
Abduqadir Ali Dige, the Spokesperson of the Somali Presidency, emphasized that President Hassan Sheikh’s meetings aim to address counterterrorism efforts and garner support for Somalia’s national plan to lift the arms embargo, considering the UK’s role as a member of the United Nations Security Council.
The President is slated to deliver a speech at the summit, shedding light on the situation in Somalia, particularly the humanitarian challenges stemming from widespread floods affecting various regions. The talks are pivotal, given the urgency of addressing these issues and enhancing diplomatic ties.
Abdihakim Mohamed Yusuf, the Director of the Somali Presidency, highlighted the historic significance of President Hassan Sheikh’s direct flight from Mogadishu to London.
