Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has concluded an overland tour of several districts in Galmudug and returned to Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
The President departed Galkacyo in Mudug region on Wednesday afternoon after holding meetings with regional leaders and members of the local community.
During the tour, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud traveled through Dhusamareb, Hananbuure, Adaado, Galinsoor, Bandiiradley and Galkacyo.
Somalia’s Presidency described the journey as a peace-focused tour, during which the President addressed residents in public gatherings in each district he visited.
Senior officials who accompanied the President included the Federal Minister of Defence, the President of Galmudug State, the Commander of the Somali National Army, as well as other top government officials and military officers.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud urged communities to closely cooperate with security agencies and support efforts to maintain peace and security in the country
The tour began in Dhusamareb and concluded in Galkacyo, highlighting the federal government’s efforts to engage directly with communities across Galmudug.
