Somali National Army forces have conducted a planned operation targeting Al-Shabaab hideouts and staging areas in Yaaq-Doomaar in Somalia’s Bay region, according to the Somali National Army.
The operation was carried out by the 161st Battalion of the 16th Danab Special Forces Brigade as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt Al-Shabaab activities and strengthen security in the region.
According to the Somali National Army, the forces destroyed the targeted hideouts and staging positions during the operation.
The army also said that an Al-Shabaab member surrendered to government forces during the operation.
The operation is part of continued military efforts by Somali security forces to disrupt Al-Shabaab’s operational networks and deny the group access to areas used for planning and staging attacks in Bay and surrounding regions.
