Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held a meeting with members of civil society at the Presidential Palace in Villa Somalia, where discussions focused on key national priorities including democratization, state-building, security, governance, and electoral reforms.
During the meeting, participants exchanged views on Somalia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen democratic institutions and advance the country’s political development agenda. Particular attention was given to the implementation of a one-person, one-vote electoral system, which remains a central objective in Somalia’s broader democratic transition.
President Hassan Sheikh emphasized the importance of civil society organizations in supporting nation-building efforts and maintaining social cohesion. He noted that civil society plays a significant role in promoting peace, reconciliation, and citizen participation in national affairs.
