Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble is scheduled to travel to Kenya’s capital Nairobi, on the invitation of the President, Uhuru Kenyatta .
On Sunday during her visit to Mogadishu, Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Minister extended an invitation to Prime Minister Roble to improve relations between Somalia and Kenya, which have been strained in the past .
According to reports, Prime Minister Roble will hold talks with the President of Kenya on strengthening bilateral relations, land and air travel, security, trade, visas and more.
The Kenyan foreign minister’s visit to Mogadishu has sparked a rift between outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Roble, which has become Public after The PM dismissed a circular by Villa Somalia barring government agencies from entering any form of agreement with foreign nations until after elections.
The circular was released hours before the visit of Kenya’s Foreign Minister Raychelle Omamo.
Rooble hit back saying that the cabinet has mandate to execute any agreements in the discharge of their duties.
Somali president’s recent decree is understood to steam from fear that Roble would sign a deal to resume Kenyan Khat flights to Mogadishu because Farmaajo’s team makes millions of dollars over Khat importation from Ethiopia.
The Somali government says it is working to restore relations between Kenya and Somalia, including trade security and other issues.
