Somalia and Pakistan are continuing discussions on the reconstruction and development of the Somali Air Force, as part of ongoing efforts to rebuild and strengthen the country’s armed forces.
Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, held a meeting in Mogadishu with a senior Pakistani delegation led by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Somalia, Aqsa Nawaz.
The meeting was also attended by the Commander of the Somali Air Force, Brigadier General Abdirizack Mahmoud Haji, and Pakistan’s Defence Attaché, Colonel Mohammed Inam Khattak.
The two sides discussed the implementation of agreements between the two countries and ways to accelerate cooperation in military training, capacity building and strengthening the capabilities of the Somali National Army.
They also discussed the development of the Somali Air Force and expanding security cooperation, including efforts to combat Al-Shabaab.
Pakistan is among the countries supporting Somalia’s security sector and has provided training and capacity-building assistance to Somali armed forces.
